Subject: women's tournament in DC
David;
Please forward the following news to players on your distribution
list.
The NCSRA is organizing a women's tournament - the Washington Squash
Summit - for the first weekend in February. Natalie Pohrer and Tania Bailey (world
#3 & #6) are going to be in Washington. They will be giving some clinics at
Results on Friday, Jan. 31st, and they'll be participating in the A draw of the
tournament on Sunday, Feb. 2nd. The
tournament itself runs all weekend, but Natalie & Tania will get byes
through the first two rounds. We're
also running B, C and D draws.
For the first 40 people entering the tournament, the entry fee will
guarantee a seat at the A draw championship match, which will be an exhibition
between Natalie & Tania. The
seating capacity at Results is only 40, so if we have more than 40 people in
the tournament, the seating will go to those who register early. (Notice I didn't say "pay"
early. The entry fee need not be
paid when you register. It can even
be paid on the day of the tournament, but exhibition seats will be reserved in
the order in which people register.
Thus, early registration may be important.)
Incidentally, Natalie and Tania will not be competing for a
trophy. After they play their
exhibition final, the other two semi-finalists will play a match and the
official A draw title and trophy will go to the winner
of that match, with the loser getting the runner-up trophy. We will also award a plaque to the
winner of the consolation draw, and the same will be done for the B, C and D
draws.
You can register online, using the form on the NCSRA website: http://www.ncsra-squashwars.org/Tournament/registration.htm.
