Hello,
My name is Poorna Omprakash, and I am a Master's student at Carnegie Mellon University's School of Computer Science.
I am a part of the Intelligent Information Systems program offered by the Language Technologies Institute. I am advised by Professor Jamie Callan.
Prior to coming to CMU, I obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore, India, in 2013.
I also worked with Professor Y. Narahari from the department of Computer Science and Automation at the Indian Institute of Science on some projects during my internships, as well as for my senior thesis.
Using machine learning techniques to determine the quality of shipment data for goods coming into an Amazon Fulfillment Complex. Part of the Amazon Fulfillment Technologies, Inbound Automation team.
Using Search Engine (Indri) API to perform shallow text mining on data obtained from social media sites.
Largest biometric system in the world, built on Open Source Technologies. Worked on manual de-duplication of biometric records in order to ensure uniqueness of enrollments and consistency in the data processed.
Worked on developing game theoretic methods for smart grid systems using cooperative game theory.
Worked on comparison of running times of search algorithms for different data structures belonging to the same efficiency class. Also ascertained which data structures scale better with increasing amounts of data.
