Software > Is it better to run or walk in the rain?

This applet answers the classic question: Will you get hit with more raindrops if you run or walk?

Signal the guy (red rectangle) to go through the rain from 2 meters/second (a brisk walk) to 10 meters/second (a fast sprint). This applet requires Java to be installed and enabled. (If the button doesn't click, try reloading the page). If you don't have Java or get sick of clicking the button, check out the results here.

Details: All raindrops in the simulation are 1mm in diameter and distributed uniformly in space. The drop velocities are computed via the method of Foote and duToit '69. It is written in Java, plus the JFreeChart graphing package.
