About Me

I am a recent graduate from Music and Technology Master program at Carnegie Mellon University, where I was advised by Professor Roger B. Dannenberg. My main study area is interactive music system design. I am interested in how to use natural gestures control music in real-time performance. 1) Extracting Commands From Gestures: Gesture Spotting and Recognition for Real-Time Music Performance (Master Thesis, PDF)

In my master thesis, I design and evaluate a gesture recognition strategy especially for music performance, based on the dynamic time warping algorithm and using an F-measure evaluation process to automatically obtain the best feature and threshold combination. A video demonstration is available.

2) Wireless Interactive Sensor Platform for Real-Time Audio-Visual Experience (Accepted for poster in New Interfaces for Music Expression 2012 (NIME 2012, Ann Arbor), PDF)

WIS platform is a wireless interactive sensor platform designed to support dynamic and interactive applications. The system obtains real-time data from several on-body sensors and offers real-time audio and visual experiences to the users. A live recording is available.
