Please write short answers in a text (.txt) or PDF (.pdf) file
named USERID-h02.txt or USERID-h02.pdf in your h02 folder.
- What is the difference between a waveguide (or waveguide filter)
and a digital delay line?
- Creating periodic signals is simple: just create a sequence of
samples and repeat the sequence over and over. One of the problems
encountered in digital synthesis is that
fundamental periods of oscillation are often not multiples of the
sample period. One period of vibration takes non-integral number
of samples, and you cannot simply repeat the same sequence over and
over if you want fine frequency control. Describe how the problem of
fractional periods is dealt with in each of the following synthesis
methods:
- Table-lookup oscillators
- Sampling synthesis
- Karplus-Strong synthesis (i.e. how can the basic
Karplus-Strong synthesis be extended to achieve fine frequency
control)
