Application Procedure

For the 2008-2009 academic year, all additional materials (GRE/TOEFL scores and transcripts) are due to MSE/MSIT-SE Admissions Coordinator by January 15, 2008.

  1. Application fee is $75. The online application will request information for the payment. If you need to make payment by check, make check payable to Carnegie Mellon University

  2. Copies of undergraduate transcripts can be uploaded to the online application website. Original transcripts
      must
    be sent to the program administrator. Do not send high school transcripts.

  3. The online application website will request three letters of recommendation; at least one from academia and, if possible, one from industry. People who recommend you should know you relatively well and be able to discuss the quality of your work.
  4. You will be asked to upload an up-to-date resume

  5. You will be asked to upload an statement of purpose, which should include:

    1. Your objective in pursuing the MSIT-SE Master of Software Engineering degree and your reasons for choosing to apply to Carnegie Mellon.

    2. Your background in software development and other fields relative to the above objective. Option: outline the parts of the software life cycle with which you have experience or exposure.

  6. You will be asked to upload a document of Professional Experience in Software Engineering; this may be description of projects completed as an undergraduate.
