Autonomous Miniature Robots Built by Carnegie Mellon Students Will Race for Cash Prizes Totaling More Than $2100

EVENT:
Teams of Carnegie Mellon University students will compete for some $2,100 in prizes as they race autonomous, self-powered miniature robots they've designed and built on a torturous, curving 255-foot-long course in the 30th Annual School of Computer Science Mobot Races: Mobot Slalom. First prize of $1000 will be awarded to the top finishing undergraduate team. Second prize is $500. Third and open class prizes are $250. A $100 Ben Brown Judge's Choice prize will be awarded to the most unique robot, and an extra $250 is available for any robot that beats the course record time standing on the books.
WHEN:
Noon, Friday, 12 April 2024, regardless of weather conditions (yes, even rain).
WHERE:
Paved walkway beside Wean Hall, fifth floor level, Carnegie Mellon campus.

Our wonderful event sponsors over the many years, some of whom have partnered with us since the beginning of the Mobot races, include Boeing, Lockheed Martin, GM, Google, Aptiv, TwoSigma, MorganStanley and Harris Corporation.

This competition will provide a sense of how pervasive robotics is in the Carnegie Mellon culture. It also demonstrates the power of individuals and interdisciplinary teams to create meaningful and innovative autonomous vehicles. For more information, please visit the Web site.
