I'm a PhD student in Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University, advised by Geoff Gordon and Avrim Blum.

Here's a little recent history: In the Spring of 2000, I graduated from Whitman College with a BA in Mathematics. I deferred my admission to Carnegie Mellon, and took a year off to sample life without school and have some adventures. I hiked and climbed in the Northwest and in Alaska, drove across the country (pictures), worked for 6 months in New Haven at Turbogenomics, and then traveled in Europe, Russia, Mongolia, and China for 3 months (pictures) before arriving in Pittsburgh to start studying again.
