RE: feeding AccuVote-OS ballots feet first in batch

I observed this myself over the years at various elections when using the feeders.  It is somewhat difficult to quantify the quality of processing foot first vs. head first, and may well also depend on the AccuFeed and AccuVote-OS units available, which is in limited supply in the Vancouver office.  Let's see what kind of feedback is provided on this issue before committing to testing.

When you return, you could set up a test and try to reproduce the phenomena.  There is no technical reason that comes to mind that would favor one orientation over another, assuming the ballots were printed correctly.

Bill Bowers of GBS has observed that absentee ballots processed in batch seem to feed more easily (printed or BOD) when inserted "feet" first (bottom of the ballot first).  In fact, Bill  always recommends that batch ballots be processed feet first.  He would like to know why he has observed this phenomenon.
