FW: VA Cert test

Cathy, Tab, Ken, and all

We have been preaching backward compatibility throughout the Virginia
certification process, so this situation has the potential of causing us
some serious heart burn not only with the Election Board of the State of
Virginia, but also with Brit Williams. If we cannot make the 192-G firmware
work, maybe the best tactic would be to explain the situation to the
Virginia folks, blame it on Mickey, get the State Board to change the
certification location, and give Portsmoth an option to replace these units
with with refirbished Infrared or visible light units in time for their
elections next year. I am not sure that we could pull all of that off, so
how about some other ideas.

you are right we won't be able to use this locality for a GEMS test. We
have one other locality using GEMS and AV(194W) for cert. and city of
norfolk for Touch Screen. I am trying to get all the info for larry dix and
robert pickett to make decisions. right now the question is reprint ballots
or not? replace Av's or not?

I had Tami setup ballot in VTS to match GEMS databse and printed ballots.

I'm sending Fedex the Gems and VTS database so you can see what you think.

thanks!

Cathy,

Let me get this straight. We are certifying GEMS in Virginia but one of
the account there has 1.92G (shafted readers) and so we need to modify a
VTS database to let us download the data to the AccuVote-OS unit for
certification because we cannot (don't want to) upgrade their units. What
happens when they want to use GEMS and their 1.92G units for an election?
