RE: Building database for LA Import database

And they are all running NT.  I don't know what Jeff Hintz is doing with his Win98 machine, but all of the LA and Alameda units have a Windows NT OS installed and full language support.

Subject: Re: Software for Los Angelas, CAHi Jeff,
I have completed the computer for LA and Alameda.  The computer for LA has GEMS 1-16-9 and the AVTS units have 3-13-1-4.
The computer for Alameda has GEMS 1-16-10 and GEMS 1-16-9 ( there is a short-cut on the desktop for GEMS 1-16-9) the AVTS units have 3-13-1-4.
All of the AVTS units including VIBS, have an OS of Windows NT.  Because of NT, you have to remove the floppy from the drive during start-up.
If you do not, NT changes the Imation drive from "A" to "D".  If you forget to take out the disk from the drive, you have to restart without the disk in the drive to get it back to drive "A".
Drop me a line Jeff, if you have any questions, or concerns.

The LA AVTS units must be running NT for full language support.

I have done a download from Gems 1-16-9 to AVTS 3-13-1-4, it took 3 tries - each try before gave me a Timeout Error.
Queue the vcenter, and then look at the CPU usage on the server.  Don't download on the client side until you see the CPU usage drop on the server.  This won't speed anything up, but it will avoid the timeout you are seeing.
Now it is doing the building of the database, however, it has now been 2 hours.  Does it take this long, or do I need the AVTS unit to be Windows NT??  Currently the AVTS unit I have is Windows 98.
NT won't help.  Took around hour on my 450mhz machine with the LA database I was playing with a couple of weeks ago.
