ICE: Intense computation on the edge
Abstract
 
We are experimenting with the idea of enabling a proxy server to execute Java servlets on behalf of an origin server, thereby off-loading the task of dynamic content generation. A key to the success of this scheme is the ability to hide the latency of communication between the proxy server and the origin server from the proxy server's client. We are using Emulab to evaluate our system's performance in a wide-area network.
