"We are a peaceful nation."
       --the idiot prince

Bulletin (2001-09-20):
So now King Dubya has been granted an excuse to start his very own fucking war on the other side of the world. We finally got a taste of what "our" government has been dishing out to the world -- the punishment of civilians for crimes they had no part of -- and suddenly it's not the swell thing it was when "we" did it in Iraq. The same people who celebrated "our" "victory" in the Gulf Massacre are aghast that anyone could celebrate an Attack On Our Way Of Life(tm). No, it wasn't an Attack On Our Way Of Life, it was the same kind of misplaced retribution that's characterized our foreign policy for decades.

See, it's not any better when "we" do it to them, folks, no matter how much you wave your flag.

(Am I the only one who's annoyed that in all the flag mania, everybody is flying them at the top of their car antennas? The flag at CMU has been flying at half-staff since 9/11, as it should, but most people seem more interested in chest-beating and peacock-like loyalty posturing than in acknowledging the tragedy. "They killed a bunch of innocent people! Now we're gonna kill a bunch of innocent people! U.S.A.! U.S.A.!" Sick bastards.)

And "Infinite Justice"? What kind of sick, demented name is that?

Update (9/22): Yesterday, I saw a taxi with a flag halfway up its antenna, so there's somebody out there with a sense of decorum. Also, Salon published an excellent article that elaborates on why some of those strange foreign people don't like the US.
