Jed for Windows

(This is a temporary page; eventually this will probably move to monolith.)

Installation instructions

  1. Download the software archive file, jed098-4.zip (a local copy is provided here) to your PC.
  2. Unzip the file. In most cases, you can simply double-click on the file and the appropriate unzip program will be launched. It will create its own subdirectory (Jed) and install the proper files into it.
  3. Move this directory and its contents to wherever you would like to software to be installed, i.e. C:\tools\
  4. Edit your
    C:\autoexec.bat
file to include this line (substituting in your choice of path for C:\tools\):
    set JED_ROOT C:\tools\jed

and include in your path assignment the directory
    C:\tools\jed\bin
  5. If you like, go to "settings" then "taskbar" on your start menu, and use the "add" button on the "Start Menu" tab to add an entry for jed to your Start menu,
  6. Reboot the machine. Jed will not be able to run until the machine is rebooted and the new autoexec.bat is loaded.
