The Ungulate House Garden: April 1999

April 19

Not much to tell (did a little light weeding, nothing new growing yet) but I just got pictures back, so there is something to show:

It's finally gotten sunny, so I want to go out and garden, especially I keep having the urge to plant my tomato seedlings.
However, despite, the sun, there is still a layer of ice on the water that's collected in the wheelbarrow, so I think it needs to be put off just a while longer. <sigh>  No other real garden news, except that everyone else's tulips are blooming. Since out front yard gets very little sun, ours is still just a tight green bud.

April 27

Planted: iris, daylilies, dill, wildflower mix.
Removed: several ugly hedge plants.
Transplanted: some wonderful wild mint to containers, so we can encourage it without it taking over the yard.
Weeded: oodles and oodles of things.
Added to garden plan but not yet planted: beans, mesclun, spinach
Blooming: periwinkle. Our tulips have just started to bloom. Will take pictures soon.

The cucumbers, peas  and shallots have really started sticking their heads up out of the ground, and a few of the raspberry canes are starting to leaf.
