Hi, I’m Jacob Charles Walker. I am a Senior Research Scientist at Google DeepMind. Previously I was a Ph.D. student at the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. My advisors were Abhinav Gupta and Martial Hebert. Currently I am working on generative models of video and model-based reinforcement learning. More generally, I am interested in Computer Vision, applied Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence.

During my time as a student, I completed research internships at Apple as well as Google. At Google I worked under Bill Freeman’s VisCam group with Tali Dekel and Miki Rubinstein.

Before joining the Robotics Institute, I obtained a B.S. in Computer Science, a B.S. in Economics, and a B.S. in Mathematics from Michigan State University. While an undergraduate, I had the opportunity to work with Yali Amit at the University of Chicago on Neural Networks. I also worked at the BEACON Center under Robert Pennock, Charles Ofria, and Fred Dyer studying Artificial Life.
