Research Information

Database Systems:

In Carnegie Mellon University I am conducting research in the area of database systems, under the guidance of Prof. Ailamaki.
Currently I am working on the StagedDB/CMP project. This project studies the behavior of modern DBMSs on the emerging multi-core (CMP) environments, and tries to enhance their performance by proposing new designs both in the software, and hardware level. For more details visit: Staged Database Systems.

Past Lifes

Middleware for Pervasive Computing:

While I was attending my M.Sc. program in the premises of Athens Information Technology I was member of the Autonomic and Grid Computing Laboratory and I was working in the CHIL project (http://chil.server.de). My main area of interest was the middleware technologies used by ubiquitous computing applications like those provided by CHIL.

Hypermedia Systems:

While I was attending my undergraduate studies, I was interested in the area of Hypermedia systems. In particular, I participated in the development of a Hypermedia system which was following the principles of the taxonomic domain and it was called Babylon (http://www.optionsnet.gr/Babylon/). I was investigating the reasons that led into the low acceptance and public usability of Hypermedia systems, and I was trying to provide solutions so those to be easily integrated by third party hypermedia-unaware application developers.
