Outlook:
- Once the account has been created (following the steps on the previous page), open Outlook and click "Tools", then click "E-mail Accounts":

- Select "View or change existing e-mail accounts", then click "Next":

- In the "E-mail Accounts" window, select your Corvid account on the left, then click "Change". Click on the "Outgoing Server" tab, then check the box next to "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication", and select the radio button next to "Use same settings as my incoming mail server":

- Next, click the "Advanced" tab, then check the box next to "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)" under the "Outgoing server" section, then change the "Outgoing server (SMTP)" port to "587":

- Click "OK", "Next", then "Finish" to complete the configuration. You will now be able to send mail to non-cs.cmu.edu email addresses from an off-campus connection.
Note: In Outlook, if a message was attempted to be sent to a non-cs.cmu.edu address from an off-campus connection before the above process was completed, and the message is still hung in the "Outbox", all messages created after that will also hang, even if they were sent after the above process was completed. All messages must be deleted from the "Outbox", then Outlook must be restarted before messages will send correctly.
Also, this configuration will only work with Outlook 2003 w/ Office (not Windows) Service Pack 2. Office SP2 can be downloaded here.
