Corvid Email Forwarding Address Attribute
Also Known As
Implemented internally in LDAP as
mailRoutingAddress
attribute
- Email Routing Address
- Mail Forwarding Address, Email Forwarding Address
Description
The
mailRoutingAddress
attribute specifies where the local system should deliver email addressed to your account. This address can be local or remote.
Example
Harry Bovik, somewhat behind the times, still retrieves his email from
foo.gp.cs.cmu.edu
, which is the host specified in his current
mailRoutingAddress
. When his IMAP account is set up on the
imap
server, however, he intends to change his
mailRoutingAddress
value to
bovik+@imap.srv.cs.cmu.edu
.
Limits
The
mailRoutingAddress
field is not required, but if an account does not have the value set, the email system will never accept email for this account. If the field does have a value, it can only be a single email address. The value must conform to the email addresses specification
RFC2822
, and we recommend the length be less than 60 characters. We do not support multiple email addresses nor multiple values in the
mailRoutingAddress
attribute.
Recommended Values
The
mailRoutingAddress
value can be a local or remote address and need not specify an address on an SCS Facilities machine. It can be your
gmail.com
address or a Yahoo! mail address.
How To Change
You can modify any of the three address attributes, "Preferred Email," "Email Forwarding," or "Email Local" via the SCS
Corvid lookup page
. Alternately, use the
Jeeves
service. Contact
