Starnet Communications: X-Win32
X-Win32 is X terminal application software for Windows. X-Win32 allows Windows users to connect to Linux/Unix servers on a network and run the applications from those servers on their Windows desktop, alongside Windows applications. Users can copy and paste data between the X and Windows applications.

- Quantity licensed: Unlimited for CMU networks; 150-seat unrestricted license.

- Eligible equipment: University owned/leased and personally owned computers on campus/at home.
- Type of license: Annual; October 31 renewal for CMU networked version; June 30 renewal for unrestricted licenses.
- Cost to users: None for copies for CMU networks; $10/license/year for unrestricted seats.

- How to get it: Download from
\\Monolith\pc_dist(networked version only). - License code required: Yes. Codes for restricted licenses are in the download material. The code for unrestricted licenses is provided by the CMU Computer Store when the license is purchased. Version for non-CMU networks and DSL users: Purchase a license for an unrestricted copy of X-Win32 at the CMU Computer Store, then purchase the application on CD from the store or download it from MyAndrew. Installation instructions are provided on the MyAndrew X-Win32 web page.
- Getting help using it: Limited help with installing X-Win32 is available from the SCS Help Desk. Email help+@cs.cmu.edu. Users can directly contact Starnet Technical Support, using the form available at their support web site.
- Restrictions: Software can be used for academic, non-commercial purposes only. To use the free copy of X-Win32, your computer must be on a CMU network segment. The software keys provided are for computers on 128.2, 128.237 and 205.201. Keys are also available for 128.182, 192.88 and 204.194. Send email to software@andrew.cmu.edu, identifying the network for which a key is needed.
- Individual use rights available upon termination: None. All copies must be deleted upon termination of affiliation with the University.
