MRM Terminology

Reservation

In MRM, a reservation is an appointment you make to book a specific resource for a specific date(s) and time(s). Reservations can span the range from a simple one-time only meeting to a recurring series that takes place every day for months.

Resource

In MRM, a resource is a room or A/V equipment that you can book.

Resources currently available for reservations in MRM include meeting rooms and the following equipment:

  • Conference Phone #1
  • Conference Phone #2
  • Portable Projector

Types of Resources

In MRM, SCS resources are divided into four categories based on room type. Whether or not you can reserve a meeting room depends on the type of resource and the access group you are in.

The four resource types are:

  • Public
  • Controlled Public
  • Semi-Private
  • Private

Public rooms are resources that are considered to be available to the entire SCS Community, and not tied to any particular department or unit. Any authenticated user can see the full schedule for Public resources; both meeting times and subjects will be visible. Reservations can be made without requiring confirmation.

Controlled Public rooms are high-value, oft-requested resources that require confirmation of all reservation requests. Any authenticated user can see the full schedule for Controlled Public resources; both meeting times and subjects will be visible. Requests for use of these spaces will be forwarded to the Dean's Office for confirmation; once confirmed the requestor will be notified.

Semi-Private rooms are resources that are tied to a particular department or unit. Confirmation of all reservations is required by administrators from the relevant department or unit. Any authenticated user can see the full schedule for Semi-Private resources; both meeting times and subjects will be visible. Requests for use of these spaces will be forwarded to Administrators of these resources for confirmation; once confirmed the requestor will be notified.

Private rooms are resources that are tied to a particular department or unit. Confirmation of all reservations is required by administrators from the relevant department or unit, and visibility is restricted. The schedules of Private spaces are only available members of the relevant department or unit; no other users of MRM will be able to see the resources. Only members of the relevant department or unit will be able to request use of these resources.
