[Support Status] SCS VPN - End of Support 7/31/17

SERVICE AFFECTED: SCS VPN
For several years, SCS Computing Facilities (SCSCF) has provided a dedicated VPN connection to SCS machines and services. As part of the ongoing IT collaboration with Computing Services, the following enhancements are being made to simplify the remote connectivity needs of the SCS community.
- The SCS VPN is no longer required to remotely connect to your SCS machines while on campus and connected to the CMU-Secure wireless network.
- You can start using the main campus VPN with your Andrew ID and password to access SCS machines and services (off or on campus). Information on how to connect to the main campus VPN can be found at http://www.cmu.edu/computing/network/vpn/anyconnect/client/create.html.
On Monday, July 31, 2017, the SCS VPN will be officially retired and consolidated with the existing main campus VPN. As of this date, the need to use your SCS Kerberos /remote instance (i.e. username/remote) to authenticate to the VPN is no longer required.
If you have any special VPN needs which the main campus VPN using your Andrew account cannot accommodate please contact us as soon as possible so we can work with you before the July 31st retirement of the SCS VPN.
