Kerberos Service Outage and Kerberos 4 Phase-Out

DETAILS:

On June 5, 2013, SCS Computing Facilities will discontinue support for Kerberos 4, the AFS Kerberos-based authentication service (kaserver) and the Kerberos version 5-to-4 ticket translation service (krb524).

This maintenance will include a Kerberos service outage from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM.

As a result of this change, applications using Kerberos 4 authentication will no longer be able to do so. The Kerberos 4 'kinit' program and the AFS 'klog' and 'klog.krb' programs will no longer function. In addition, some tools, including login and kinit on some platforms, may report warnings about being unable to convert Kerberos credentials to version 4. You can ignore these warnings; they do not indicate a problem.
