Kerberos Server Maintenance 3/17/2013

Day/Date: Sunday, March 17, 2013

Time: 10:00AM - 11:00AM

Details:

On Sunday, March 17, 2013, SCS Computing Facilities staff will perform maintenance on the Kerberos authentication servers (KDCs) to upgrade the encryption keys used for a number of key components of the system.

These servers provide authentication for UNIX logins, WebISO, and most SCS services.

Normal Kerberos authentication services are expected to remain available throughout the maintenance period. However, Kerberos administrative services, including the Instance Manager, password-changing services, and UNIX system installation, will be unavailable during this period.

In addition, while we do not anticipate any problems, it is possible that users may experience brief outages of Kerberos service, tickets issued prior to the maintenance period may not be usable while work is underway, and tickets issued during the maintenance period may become invalid once the work is complete. Please contact the SCS Help Desk at x8-4231 or send mail to help@cs.cmu.edu with any questions or concerns regarding this maintenance period.

Thank you for your attention,
