January 2012 Critical Windows and Adobe patches

On January 10, 2012, Microsoft released patches for critical vulnerabilities in Windows. In addition, Adobe released critical patches for Adobe Reader and Acrobat.
* All Windows PCs must be patched. *
To patch your PC:
Click on the update icon on the taskbar. It is a globe or yellow shield with an exclamation point, depending on which version of Windows you're running.
If you do not have such an icon, run Windows Update by going to the site:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
After patching, you must reboot your PC in order for the patches to take effect.

If you use ASP.NET or the Microsoft .NET framework, or administer an ASP.NET site, see:

for a critical update.
If you use the Microsoft Anti-Cross Site Scripting (AntiXSS) Library, see:

for an important update.
Adobe patches
Adobe released patches for versions 9 and 10 of Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat for Windows and Macintosh.
If you are already using Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat, you can install the updates by opening the application and selecting:
Help > Check for Updates.
Follow the given instructions to download and install updates for your Adobe products.
To install or upgrade any version of Adobe Reader 10 on Windows to the latest version (10.1.2), you can run the installer on MONOLITH at:
PC_Dist\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.1.2\SCS-AdobeReader-All-1012.exe
To install or upgrade any version of Acrobat Pro 10 on Windows to the latest version (10.1.2), you can run the installer on MONOLITH at:
PC_Dist\Adobe\Acrobat Pro\10.1.2\SCS-AdobeAcrobatPro-All-1012.exe.
