Critical "out of band" Windows patch
June 6, 2012
On June 3, 2012, Microsoft released a critical patch for a vulnerability with digital certificates that could allow an attacker to remotely compromise a Windows PC. This patch is in addition to the scheduled patches that Microsoft releases on the second Tuesday of each month.
* All Windows PCs must be patched. *
To patch your PC:
Click on the update icon on the taskbar. It is a globe or yellow shield with an exclamation point, depending on which version of Windows you're running.
If you do not have such an icon, run Windows Update by going to the site:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
After installing this update, reboot if prompted to do so. Not all versions of Windows will require a reboot.
Please contact help@cs.cmu.edu or call the SCS Help Desk (x8-4231) if you have questions or problems with applying these patches.
Thanks for your attention,
