LINUX.GP Upgrade Notice

May 22, 2012

Tomorrow morning, May 23, 2012 SCS Facilities will upgrade the Linux general purpose machines (linux.gp.cs.cmu.edu). New hardware will be in place providing faster CPUs, more memory and more temporary disk space. The Operating System will be upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

After the upgrade, the linux.gp.cs.cmu.edu alias will direct you to the new servers. There will be a brief transition period where the old servers will remain up to allow any existing processes to complete.

Further details about the upgrade can be found here: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~help/unix_linux/linux/faq_linux.gp.html

Please contact help@cs.cmu.edu or call the SCS Help Desk (x8-4231) if you have questions.

Thank you for your attention,

SCS Help Desk
