New iPass Client: Sept 2012

iPass has released a new client, Open Mobile, for devices running the Windows, MacOS, Android, or iOS operating system. All iPassConnect client users must transition to the new Open Mobile client prior to September 30, 2012. The current iPassConnect client will no longer be supported after September 30, 2012 and extended support fees will be assessed to SCS for each user that uses the iPassConnect client after this date.

Information and download instructions for the Open Mobile client can be found on the SCS Help Page:

http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~help/networking/ipass.html

The Open Mobile client has a new look and feel and is easier to use. However, there is no longer a phone book built into the client that allows you to check for iPass capable networks. It is recommended that users check the iPass HotSpot web page for iPass capable sites before traveling.

The iPass HotSpot web page is: http://hotspot-finder.ipass.com

Please contact the SCS Help Desk at x8-4231 or send mail to help+@cs.cmu.edu with any questions or concerns regarding the new iPass client.

Thank you for your attention,
