LINUX.GP operating system upgrade scheduled

On Thursday, November 5, 2009 SCS Computing Facilities will begin upgrading the Linux general purpose servers (linux.gp.cs.cmu.edu) from the current OS FC5 to F10. At that time one machine (linux5.gp) will be removed from the pool and upgraded from Fedora Core 5 to Fedora 10. Linux5 should be available for general use by November 16th running the upgraded F10 operating system.

The rest of the linux.gp machines will be upgraded to Fedora 10 on December 21st, 2009 and should be available for normal use by the next day (December 22nd).

If you wish to test your application under F10, please use linux5.gp.cs.cmu.edu between 11/16/2009 and 12/15/2009. Please report any issues or concerns you have to help+@cs.cmu.edu.

Please contact the SCS Help Desk at x8-4231 or send mail to help@cs.cmu.edu with any questions or concerns regarding these upgrades.

Thank you for your attention,
