Thursday Power Outage Scheduled for Gates Hillman Center

Beginning at 5:00pm Wednesday, August 12, 2009, SCS Computing Facilities will begin powering off machines that have been moved into the Gates Hillman Center in preparation for the power outage scheduled for Thursday August 13th. Please see the excerpt from Jim Skees' message below.

Jim's message:

On Thursday, the smoke exhaust fans in the building's atriums will be tested between 6:30 and 9 a.m., which may trigger the fire alarm speakers and horns. Also, between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. Thursday, the building will be shifted onto emergency power, meaning the power outlets and lighting in the rooms won't work during that period. CMU has to the city's satisfaction that the exhaust fans will work while the building is under emergency power.

Please call the SCS Help Desk x8-4231 if you have questions regarding this outage.

Thank you for your attention,
