September 12, 2008
Microsoft released new patches for critical Windows and Microsoft Office vulnerabilities on September 9, 2008.
* All Windows PCs must be patched. *
To patch your PC:
Click on the update icon on the taskbar (it is a globe or yellow shield with an exclamation point, depending on which version of Windows you're running).
If you do not have such an icon, run Windows Update by going to the site:http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
All Office 2000 users should also go to the site:http://officeupdate.microsoft.com
After patching, you must reboot your PC in order for the patches to take effect.
If you are running Windows Media Encoder 9, you can download a patch for the version of windows you are running from:http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms08-053.mspx
If you are running Microsoft SQL server or developer tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio.NET, check this page to see if you need to install patches that were released for a vulnerability in GDI+:http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms08-052.mspx
