Windows print server printer driver corruption problem

Day/Date: Friday June 20, 2008

Service Affected: SCS Windows Printing

Details:

On Monday June 16, 2008, the Windows print server monolith.srv.cs.cmu.edu began experiencing some problems with printer driver corruption on specific printer queues. This has caused intermittent outages for some print queues and has caused some odd behaviors such as not being able to scale documents or change other printer preferences when printing to them.

We are actively investigating the causes of this problem and will continue to do so until a resolution is found and implemented. If you see any odd problems when printing from Windows, please contact SCS Operations at x8-2608. Any feedback will greatly help our efforts in troubleshooting this problem. Local Windows printers should not be affected by this corruption problem.

Please contact SCS Operations at x8-2608 or send mail to help+@cs.cmu.edu with any questions or concerns regarding this printing issue.

Thank you for your attention,
