Smith Hall SCS Network Upgrade Scheduled

Details:

SCS Computing Facilities will be upgrading the core network equipment in Smith Hall during this maintenance window. The new network equipment will provide gigabit connections to the desktop where the building network wiring permits. In addition, this upgrade will allow the Smith Hall network to become a routed segment within the overall SCS network.

After the network upgrade, computers moving in/out of Smith Hall to/from other areas of the SCS network will be required to have their IP address changed. The IP address change can be configured to occur automatically when the computer is connected in the new location if SCS Computing Facilities is notified in advance and the computer is configured to use DHCP.

To notify SCS Computing Facilities of computer locations changes please use the Update option of the SCS netregister web interface:http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~help/networking/netregister.html
