WINS Server Change Scheduled

DAY/DATE: Wednesday August 29, 2007

TIME: 7:00AM 8:00AM

SERVICES AFFECTED: SCS Windows Domain

On Wednesday, August 29, 2007 SCS Computing Facilities will replace the current Windows WINS servers, changing the WINS server IP addresses. There should be no interruption of service during this change.

The new primary WINS server will be 128.2.200.40 and the new secondary WINS server will be 128.2.200.41. For most users, this change will go unnoticed. If you have manually configured network adapters or services for WINS server addresses you will have to reconfigure this information to reflect the change.

For more detailed information regarding this change and instructions on how to manually reconfigure your WINS servers please refer to our help page at: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~help/networking/netBIOS_noresolve.html

Please contact the SCS Help Desk at x8-4231 or send mail to help@cs.cmu.edu with any questions or concerns regarding this upgrade.
