Service Upgrade: New Color Printer to be deployed in NSH

November 6, 2007

As a part of SCS Computing Facilities commitment to providing reliable and dependable service we are pleased to announce the deployment of a new HP Color Laser Jet 9500hdn printer. This new Color Laser Jet is the first of four new color printers that SCS Computing Facilities will be deploying in the next few weeks. This deployment will help us to better meet the printing needs of the SCS user community.

The printer will be deployed on November 7, 2007 in the NSH 4200 main area and will be named nsh4200COLOR. Once the new printer has been deployed the printer PASTEL.PRT.CS.CMU.EDU will be retired.

Users of Windows and Macintosh systems should delete the old printer name from their local machine's printer settings and add the new printer name shown above. Refer to the SCS printer help pages for instructions at:

Scroll down to the "How To" section at the bottom of the page to review the instructions for setting up a printer for your Operating System.

For UNIX systems, the new printer name must be used after the lpr command. Printer names are case sensitive.

Example: lpr -P nsh4200COLOR
