MONOLITH.SRV.CS.CMU.EDU Upgrade Scheduled

DAY/DATE: Wednesday August 15, 2007

TIME: 6:00AM - 8:00AM

SERVICES AFFECTED: Windows Printing and Software Downloads

On Wednesday, August 15, 2007 SCS Computing Facilities will upgrade the hardware for the server MONOLITH.SRV.CS.CMU.EDU. During this upgrade SCS Windows domain users will not be able to print or download Windows software.

During this upgrade MONOLITH.SRV.CS.CMU.EDU will be assigned a new IP address. For most users, this change will go unnoticed. However, if you have drives mapped or connect from wireless or remote locations using MONOLITH's IP address you will need to reconfigure this information with the fully qualified hostname:

MONOLITH.SRV.CS.CMU.EDU.

For example: \\monolith.srv.cs.cmu.edu\pc_dist or \\monolith.srv.cs.cmu.edu\slate

For instructions on how to reconfigure your machine and for more detailed information regarding this change please see:http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~help/networking/monolith_upgrade.html

Please contact the SCS Help Desk at x8-4231 or send mail to help@cs.cmu.edu with any questions or concerns regarding this upgrade.

Thank you for your attention,
