Kerberos and Jeeves Service Outages Scheduled

DAY/DATE: Saturday, April 7, 2007

TIME: 12:00PM - 5:00PM EST

AREA AFFECTED: All SCS users

DETAILS:

A service outage has been scheduled for Kerberos and Jeeves service. This outage is necessary to allow SCS Computing Facilities to perform preventive maintenance on the Kerberos servers and to move machines to make room for upcoming improvements to these services.

During the announced outage window, individual Kerberos servers will be shut down, which will result in slower than usual response times for logins and authentication to network services. We will attempt to minimize the periods during which reduced service is available, and at no time will Kerberos authentication service be completely unavailable.

In addition, during this outage the Jeeves service will be completely unavailable and the Kerberos password-changing service will be unavailable from time to time.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. Please contact the SCS Help Desk at x8-4231 or send mail to help+@cs.cmu.edu with any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your attention,

SCS Help Desk
