Daylight Savings Time General Announcement
Starting in the spring of 2007, Daylight Saving Time (DST) start and end dates for the United States will transition to comply with the Energy Policy Act of 2005. DST dates in the United States will start three weeks earlier (the second Sunday in March) and will end one week later (the first Sunday in November).
This change in Daylight Saving Time affects several operating systems as well as several frequently used applications, including:
- Oracle Calendar
- Microsoft Exchange
- Microsoft Windows System
- Solaris and Linux Systems
- Apple Mac OSX Systems
In some cases systems and applications may need to be updated directly, while in other circumstances the application may inherit the date and time information from the underlying system.
SCS Computing Facilities is working to ease this transition for our user community. We will be contacting individuals affected by these changes as well as communicating to the entire SCS user community our plans on dealing with the change in DST.
