Service Upgrade: New Color Printers Deployed

As a part of SCS Computing Facilities commitment to providing reliable and dependable service we are pleased to announce the deployment of three new color printers. SCS Computing Facilities has deployed two Ricoh Aficio 3260c color document centers and a new HP Color Laser Jet 9500mfp printer. This deployment will help us to better meet the printing needs of the SCS user community.

The new printers are :

spectralCOLOR (Ricoh 3260c) in WeH 3501

rainbow2COLOR (Ricoh 3260c) in NSH 3202

weh4215COLOR (HP 9500MFP) in WeH 4215

The printers, rainbowCOLOR and spectrumCOLOR have been retired. Users of Windows and Macintosh systems should delete the old printer name from their local machine's printer settings and add the new printer name shown above. Refer to the SCS printer help pages for instructions on how to do this: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~help/printing/index.html

Scroll down to the "How To" section at the bottom of the web page to review the instructions for setting up a printer for your Operating System.

For UNIX machines, these printers will be available on Wednesday, December 5, 2007. If you need to print to a color printer prior to this date, please use one of the following printers:

nsh4200COLOR

prismCOLOR

sunbowCOLOR

The new printer name must be used after the lpr command. Printer names are case sensitive.

Example: lpr -P weh4215COLOR
