Intel Wireless Driver Vulnerabilities
In August, security vulnerabilities in the drivers for some Intel wireless devices were disclosed. These vulnerabilities could allow a remote attacker to compromise Windows hosts that are using these drivers. Some details about the vulnerabilities are at:http://support.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-023065.htm
There are no reports that these vulnerabilities are currently being exploited.
SCS Facilities has put together an installer that will update vulnerable Intel wireless drivers. This installer located at:
\\monolith\pc_dist\Intel_wireless_update\intel_wlan_update.exe
If you have a Windows PC with an Intel wireless adaptor, please use this installer to update your drivers. Running the installer will have no effect on PCs without vulnerable wireless drivers.
Please contact help@cs.cmu.edu or call the SCS Help Desk (x8-4231) if you have questions or problems.
Thank you for your attention,
