Critical Windows security patch released, March 17, 2006
Microsoft released patches for vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office, Windows XP SP 1, and Windows Server 2003 on March 14, 2006. * All Windows PCs must be patched. *
To patch your PC: Click on the update icon on the taskbar (it is a globe or yellow shield with an exclamation point, depending on which version of Windows you're running). Using the update icon to patch your system will apply both the operating system and Microsoft Office updates.
If you do not have such an icon, you should run both Windows Update and Office Update by going to the sites:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
http://officeupdate.microsoft.com
After patching, you must reboot your PC in order for the patches to take effect.
Please contact help@cs.cmu.edu or call the SCS Help Desk (x8-4231) if you have questions or problems with applying these patches.
