Urgent critical security updates for Windows and Macintoshes
August 9, 2006
Microsoft released new patches for critical Windows and Microsoft Office security vulnerabilities on August 8, 2006. Some of these vulnerabilities are currently being exploited.
* All Windows PCs must be patched ASAP *
To patch your PC:
Click on the update icon on the taskbar (it is a globe or yellow shield with an exclamation point, depending on which version of Windows you're running).
If you do not have such an icon, run Windows Update by going to the site: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
All Office 2000 users should also go to the site:http://officeupdate.microsoft.com
After patching, you must reboot your PC in order for the patches to take effect.
If you are using Microsoft Office 2004 on a Macintosh, you should install the Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 11.2.6 Update:http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx#Office2004
If you are using Microsoft Office v.X on a Macintosh, you should install the Microsoft Office v.X for Mac security update:http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx#OfficeX
