Network Outage 10-28-2006
DATE/DAY: Saturday, October 28, 2006 from 11:00pm to 11:30pm
AREA AFFECTED: Entire SCS network
A software upgrade needs to be performed on the core SCS switch. The upgrade procedure will cause a slight disruption of the network traffic flow through the switch. However, the potential exists that a reboot of the core switch will have to occur if there are problems with the upgrade procedure. A full reboot of the core switch will mean a network outage for about 5 minutes for entire SCS network. The outage includes access to machines and services on the local SCS network as well as access to Andrew, Internet, and research networks.
