Scheduled SCS Data Center Outage
During the morning of January 4, 2007 there will be a campus wide power outage. SCS Computing Facilities will be shutting down the primary SCS Data Center in Wean Hall for this outage.
SERVICES AFFECTED: All SCS Computing Services
START DATE: January 3, 2007 9 P.M. EST
END DATE: January 4, 2007 NOON EST
The following is the shutdown schedule:
Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 9 P.M. EST Shutdown begins for all servers located in the SCS Data Center, except for Corvid and Exchange email servers, AFS servers and the primary network Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 3:30 A.M. EST Shutdown begins for all email servers, AFS, and primary network Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 8 A.M. EST Restart of network and core SCS computing services begin Thursday, January 4, 2007 by 10 A.M. EST Core SCS computing services back online Thursday, January 4, 2007 by Noon EST Project servers back online
ACTION REQUIRED BY SCS COMPUTER USERS:
On Wednesday January 3, 2007, when you leave work, but not later than 9 P.M. that night, you should power off your computer. The computer UPS battery will not hold power for the duration of the power outage. Computers that are not shut down correctly could experience problems when power is restored.
