Apple Battery Recall

Apple is recalling certain lithium-ion, rechargeable batteries that were used with various models of its portable lines. There is a possibility that these batteries can overheat, which could pose a risk of fire.

Although the number of incidents has been small, all faculty, staff, and students in SCS should check their Apple laptops for affected batteries and request replacements.

To check if your battery is affected, please go to one of the following Apple websites:

For iBook G4 and Powerbook G4 battery recalls: https://support.apple.com/ibook_powerbook/batteryexchange/

For Macbook Pro battery recall: https://support.apple.com/macbookpro15/batteryexchange/index.html

This link will provide you with all of the information that you need to verify if your battery is affected by this recall and to request a replacement battery if necessary.

If you have any questions regarding this recall or if you need assistance in determining if your battery falls under this recall, please contact the SCS Help Desk at x8-4231 or send mail to help@cs.cmu.edu.

Thank you for your attention,
