SCS Computing Facilities Flood Update

12 December 2005, 4:00pm EST

Machine Room Update, Wean Hall 3611

SCS Computing Facilities Machine Room is now up and fully operational. Full electrical power was restored and most project machines were up and running by the start of business on Monday, December 12, 2005.

Project machines that were removed due to the flood can be returned to the machine room starting at noon on Tuesday, December 13, 2005. Please contact the SCS Help Desk, x8-4231 with any questions regarding returning a machine.

Services Update

Backups are now running.

All regularly provided services are operational.

***Please bear in mind***

This is a very large undertaking for everyone, with many variables, and many components being replaced. We remind you that the air conditioning for the SCS Computing Facilities machine room is temporary and will be replaced in the coming weeks. Further service interruptions are possible.

Other Areas in Wean Hall

Over the weekend electrical crews started work on the research labs affected by the flood. Electrical crews will continue to work on these labs as well as the SCS Computing Facilities Network room. Full replacement of any power or cabling that was housed under the raised floor is taking place. We will post further updates as they become available.

Please contact the SCS Help Desk at x8-4231 or send mail to help+@cs.cmu.edu with any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your patience and understanding,
