Service Outage: Network Outage October 22, 2005
The following announcement is made by SCS Computing Facilities:
On Saturday October 22nd, a network outage will affect network connectivity between:
- SCS network and the Internet
- SCS network and Research network (Internet2)
TIME OF EVENT: 5:00 a.m. EDT - 6:00 a.m. EDT
AREAS AFFECTED:
All areas of SCS network that depend upon external Internet connectivity (as well as connections and access to off-campus sites and services) will experience interruptions.
Services that will experience interruptions include:
- Commodity Internet
- Abilene/I2/Internet2
- Email (Email is held and then delivered once maintenance is completed.)
- VPN connections from external sites
TECHNICAL DETAILS:
Computing Services is upgrading to a new redundant border router for Internet services. Commodity and Research (I2) Internet connectivity will experience brief outages as they perform fail-over testing to the new router.
