Service Change: Matlab License Server Upgrade

The following announcement is made by SCS Computing Facilities:

Subject: Retirement of old Matlab license server

Date: Wednesday 16 November 2005

Time of Event: 08:00am

Area Affected: Matlab

Service Affected: Some Windows, and Mac users of the networked Matlab license.

Services Not Affected: Linux users of Matlab, and "stand-alone" installs of Matlab

Additional Information:

We are transitioning Matlab license service to a new server: license-1.srv.cs.cmu.edu. Users on the Windows and Macintosh platforms who use MATLAB under the network license who are still connecting to the old license server will be contacted in email, and provided with an updated license.dat file in order to access the new license server. This change does not affect all users, only those still using the old license server.

The majority of Linux users and newer Matlab installations are already accessing the new license server. You may determine which machine your Matlab installation is accessing by examining the license.dat file located within Matlab's installation path.

If the SERVER line says:

license-1.srv.cs.cmu.edu

You are using the new server, and need do nothing.

If the SERVER line says:

 license.srv.cs.cmu.edu

You are using the old server; please contact the SCS Helpdesk.
