SCS MX Mail Servers Attacked

Update

As of 14:30 on June 27th, 2005 the mail servers queues have been cleared out and mail servers have been restored to normal operations.

Problem Description

Over the weekend the School of Computer Science MX Mail Servers were hit with a denial of serivce attack.This attack has caused the mails queues to become flooded with messages. This attack can affect overall system performance and can cause significant email delays. Computing Facilities is currently working on the problem and we are doing our best to alleviate the current problems. Updates will be posted here throughout the day on the status of this particular problem.
