Toll-Free dialup access

SCS has an toll-free number that provides long-distance access to a small modem pool. This service is obsolescent, and people should use iPass, instead.

The toll-free number is not available in all countries, and you should check in advance with SCS Facilities to make sure that it is available in the country you are visiting. One week or more advance notice may be required to make sure that we are subscribed for the service in a particular country.

Usage restrictions

The toll-free service is expensive and the number of available lines is small. It should not be used as a replacement for having a local ISP, nor should lines be used for extended periods of time.

Phone numbers

The toll-free number for use within the United States is 1-800-782-1187. This connection uses the same authentication that our local dialup connections use.
